Walk-in Wonderwall -
Netted Cloche / Tunnel System
As any brassica grower knows, there are few crops more popular with pests. If the pigeons don't get your cabbages then the caterpillars will eat your cauliflowers. That's before we even think about the whitefly and the dreaded cabbage root fly.

6M Wonderwall Brassica Net
As growers know from bitter experience, the real answer to birds and butterflies is to net the crop but it only takes one slip up or gap and they're in as quick as a flash. Various bits of netting and fleece balanced on canes work well until somebody knocks one or the wind blows a gap open.
British inventor and allotment grower David Dance of Staffordshire has come up with a great solution for vegetable growers which he calls the Walk-in Wonderwall™
Basically the Wonderwall consists of fine heavy-duty UV rated netting covering a light-weight PVC frame to produce a protective tunnel for the crop. The Wonderwall kit comes complete with preservative-treated wooden stakes to which the frame is attached with the supplied ties.
Constructing the Wonderwall is remarkably easy. At most it takes a couple of hours, and that includes tea break and chatting time! The clear instructions with colour photographs of every stage make it almost impossible to go wrong.
Because the frame is flexible and you've plenty of netting, you can get away with some variation on the correct measurements. Installing on slopes or even rough ground is easily done.
The Wonderwall has other benefits as well as keeping the birds and butterflies away. The netting drastically reduces wind speed creating a micro-climate within the tunnel, which reduces wind chill and root-rock resulting in much better crops compared with crops grown outside.
Although it reduces wind speed inside the Wonderwall allows enough airflow to prevent any mildew etc. It also allows rain and sun through, so you have no need to water more than an unprotected crop.
Despite the light-weight construction, the Wonderwall is extremely stable and will happily withstand high winds.
The Wonderwall also deters the cabbage root fly and whitefly, those other banes of the brassica-grower's life, although good practice dictates you should use collars on cabbages if root-fly is particularly troublesome in your area.
Because the Wonderwall has 1.9M (6'3") headroom, access is easy to allow you to cultivate and keep the weeds down.
The Wonderwall can be easily taken down and reassembled at the end of the season so you keep to your crop rotation plan. The high quality netting and PVC frame will last for years.
The Wonderwall is only available direct from the manufacturer, keeping the cost down. It's available in a range of sizes from 3M upwards.Widths can vary to suit
your needs so you can buy the right size for you.
One final point. The Wonderwall is made of 80% British manufactured materials. Inventor David Dance says he would like that to be 100% but some parts just aren't made in the UK.
You can find out more and buy the Walk-in Wonderwall directly from the manufacturer's web site www.walk-inwonderwall.co.uk or telephone 01543 677531
