Made this with damsons instaed of plums and it was delicious – a great hit with the family. Have just discovered your site and have saved it in my favourites as I'm sure I will be visiting it regularly

This cake is brilliant – it disappears as soon as it is made. Even when I accidently left it in the oven for an extra 20min – it came out delicious and moist.

Unfortunately by the time I discovered the recipe I had stewed and frozen most of our glut of plums. Does anyone know of a good cake that can be made with rather runny stewed plums? Otherwise we are going to be eating lots of crumbles and pies this winter.

Not usually good at cakes but this one was brilliant. Will be making more and trying variations such as damsons, pears,apples, more spice and substituting ground almonds for some of flour. Cheers

Thank you I am trying different plum recipes as I have a lovely plum tree in my garden then it will be into Autumn and apple tree next!
Thank you it sounds delicious and I will use the last persons advice and make two, one for the family and one for me which will be gluten and dairy free!
