Have made this twice - I love it. I also use breadcrumbs with the grated cheese. Any left overs I take to work and heat up for lunch.

The family have all asked for seconds after all saying that they don't like marrow, and have been asked to make some more soon.

I " adore" marrow ( funny woman) & in & after the " war" my dad baked marrow with any veg we had " ie" lots of onions ( he sauted them first in butter? ) & my very favorite is with lots of cheese over the top! I add stale crumbled breadcrumbs to the cheese & back in to the oven , untill all golden & bubbling. I add fresh herbs too these days in with the onions ( they would burn if on top! )
Thank you for a wonderful memory ( & reminder to make this again & again. )

Harvested my first marrow from my newly aquired allotment yesterday and decided to give this recipe a try. The whole family enjoyed it which was a very motivating experience - they are not known for being diplomatic!
PS will be trying Netty's suggested tweaks to the recipe next time.

I don't have an allotment but I have won a huge box of veg in a raffle which included 2 marrows!

Made this today and served as a side with lamb - it was very tasty.

Made a couple of tweaks - mixed some crumbled stilton in with the chedder as well as a some breadcrumbs from a seeded loaf to add texture.
