Fuel Economy Pie Recipe (with a Pudding on top)
There are three sections to this recipe and each section is cooked for 20 minutes so the whole meal takes one hour and is cooked in one large saucepan.
- Put the minced beef, onions, carrots, garlic (optional) and gravy – sufficient to keep moist during cooking – into the pan and cook for 20 minutes.
- Add several layers of finely sliced potatoes, with seasoning, and cook for a further 20 minutes.
- Mix together self raising flour, suet and water to form a soft dough (sufficient for however many people oneĀ is cooking for, 8oz flour to 4oz suet).
- Roll out and lay on top of potatoes.
- Cover firmly and cook forĀ further 20 minutes.
- Serve.
Note: This does need to be cooked on a gentle heat. Makes a wholesome meal for the winter.
