Medlar Trees

Medlar Trees

Fruit Trees, Nut Trees and Fruit Bushes

If you are going to plant a tree or bush, then it is going to be there for some years. So it's well worth spending some time looking at the different varieties and going for something that will be productive and providing you with a good crop in years to come. Time spent to prepare the ground properly will repay you many times over.

Medlar Westeveldt

An extremely attractive and quite fascinating tree (a relative of the Quince family), with large, glossy leaves, beautiful white blossom in springtime and pretty bronze foliage in autumn. The curious flattish fruit are aready to pick in October and should then be stored for a few weeks (known as bletting) to fully develop their truffle-like flavour.
