Cherry Trees

Cherry Trees

Fruit Trees, Nut Trees and Fruit Bushes

If you are going to plant a tree or bush, then it is going to be there for some years. So it's well worth spending some time looking at the different varieties and going for something that will be productive and providing you with a good crop in years to come. Time spent to prepare the ground properly will repay you many times over.

Cherry Crown Morello

A very good 'sour' cherry, producing large red fruit that is excellent for cooking in pies and jam. It makes an attractive spreading tree with beautiful spring blossom, and is very cold tolerant - one of the few trees that will thrive on a north facing wall! Pick from late July. Given that cherries are such a well loved fruit, it's surprising that they are not more widely grown in our gardens. Perhaps people are put off by childhood memories of giant, unmanageable trees; if so then think again!

Cherry Merton Glory

A delicious white cherry - actually yellow orange to look at and with white flesh - that has large juicy very tasty fruit. Unlike our other cherries this one is not self fertile and needs to be grown alongside another to achieve the best crops. Resistant to cracking, which can be a problem in cherries. Given that cherries are such a well loved fruit, it's surprising that they are not more widely grown in our gardens. Cherry Rubi

A sweet cherry that is, in our opinion, the best yet! It's self fertile and extremely productive, becoming smothered in large, deliciously sweet fruits that are ready to pick in early July. Cherry Summer Sun

Having enjoyed the cherry blossom in early spring, the cherries will develop into tight red fruits, maturing late July into succulent plump fruits which are almost black in colour. The fruits are delicious picked fresh from the tree or can be harvested an
