Exclusively manufactured at Two Wests and Elliott the Dewpoint Cabinet is a completely self-contained unit that creates the ideal conditions for easy, rapid propagation and growth of cuttings and germination of seeds.
Completely enclosed artificial environment allows propagation at any time of year.
Maintenance-free, automatic control - can be left unattended for several weeks.
Ideal for most subjects including heathers, orchids, roses, tropicals and rhododendrons (rhododendron seedlings have put on three years growth in 9 months).
Revives sickly plants.
Easy weaning - plants rooted in 3 weeks can go straight out.
Dimensions: 48" (122cm) long, 22?" (57cm) wide (room for 6 standard seed trays) by 51" (129cm) high.
Maximum electrical usage is approximately 250 watts.
It MUST be sited in a covered place where the temperature is constant and fairly COOL (e.g. garage, spare room, cellar etc.) close to a mains electricity supply - NOT in a greenhouse as temperatures can become too excessive for its' efficient operation.
The Dewpoint Principle:
The patented principle of the Dewpoint Cabinet is that fresh air saturated with water vapour is allowed to cool round the leaves of cuttings and plants. Moisture loss from leaves is eliminated thus encouraging healthy root growth. However, the leaf surface remains dry preventing the formation of moulds.
The Cabinet:
A thermostatically controlled heated tray warms a reservoir of water through which fresh air is pumped creating a saturated atmosphere. The thin aluminium sides of the cabinet cool the air producing the 'dewpoint'. Condensation forms on the sides, this then runs back into the reservoir.
The cabinet is sealed with three pieces of acrylic above which is mounted a twin 55watt, daylight florescent (colour 86) lighting unit.
