An ideal replacement for gravel or sand in trays this 3/8" (10mm) thick black Water Matting has an exceptionally high water holding capacity of 12 pints per square yard.

A chemically bonded non-woven material which exhibits a considerable retarding effect on the growth of algae.

Water the matting by hand or by dripping directly onto it, the water will spread evenly across the matting giving an ample supply of water and humid atmosphere for your plants.

This black water matting hides unsightly soil spillage and can easily be washed when necessary.

Available in five widths: 6" (15cm), 8" (20cm), 10" (25.5cm), 14" (35.5cm) and 22" (56cm).

Supplied in continuous lengths to avoid any wastage simply purchase as many metres as required and cut to size.

To reduce excessive water evaporation in the summer months, cover the matting with a sheet of black polythene and then cut holes to fit your pots. Turn pots regularly to avoid the roots growing into the matting. The matting can also be used outside for nursery beds - lay the matting on polythene, this will give a weed-free area and help to maintain even watering.
