These Self-Watering Trays have been developed to enable simple, efficient automatic watering of house plants, bedding plants, seedlings etc - plants look after themselves by just standing them on the trays and they take up water as and when they need it - no more over water!

Trays hold sufficient water to keep your plants watered for up to 2wks without the need for refilling.
Each self-watering tray consists of a watertight, plastic base tray which forms a water reservoir; placed in this is a raised insert.
Made from long-lasting, strong aluminium the insert gives the necessary flat surface for efficient capillary watering (no puddles).
The insert is covered with capillary matting which stays moist by drawing up water from the reservoir.
Available in six sizes.
The illustration shows the 39 1/2" and the 29 3/4" models.
These trays allow plants, through the base of their pots or trays to take up water from the matting. In this way your plants remain correctly and constantly watered.
If you are concerned about water evaporation or algae growth a layer of perforated polythene can be placed over the capillary matting to reduce this.
Trails in our greenhouse have shown that water in these trays should last for about two weeks (although time will vary depending on the temperature). If you're away for a long time just ask a friend to top up the trays - it's a very easy job!
Remember, occasionally changing the water and giving the trays a good clean will stop any nasties from forming. |
