Cookware, Jam Making and Preserving

To go with the expanded recipes section on the site, we’ve got together with online retailer Headcook to offer a selection of useful equipment from their range of cookware.

The Le Parfait range of preserving jars are available in nearly every supermarket in France but are not so easy to find in the UK. They are high quality and quite tough. some of ours are over ten years old. The rubber seals don’t tend to last as long but they can be obtained separately quite cheaply.

One basic item that Val had real trouble finding locally was muslin. It’s useful for wrapping spices when making chutneys, straining etc  and they stock that. They also offer a jam making straining kit from Kitchen Craft that acts as a ‘third hand’  when you need one.

They offer no less than 3 jam making thermometers ranging from a basic model at £2.50 up to a super digital model. that’s programmable. Personally, I have enough problems with the video, but there you go!

Take a look on the site at the new Cookware section

Marjorie L MORROW @ 8:22 pm

Please, I have an older Saftborn juicer. I am in need of the hose/hoses for exrtracting the juice and the metal or glass insert. Mine was glass and the one my daughter bought about three years ago is a metal. Can you direct me as to where I can purchase these. The drug store no longer has surgical tubing.

By the way we all have enjoyed it very much, thru into the third generation now.

Thank you, Margrie

I’m sorry I can’t help you. We’re in the UK not the USA so I really don’t know. Good luck though.

I read the note that Marjorie left about needing the tubing
for her Saftborn Steamer/Juicer. I also need the tubing for a Saftborn, and wonder how to contact her to learn what she found out about buying it. That steamer is the slickest thing since greased lightning.
