I assume you're an organic farmer Jim and can advise that poor bloke on how to convert his farm and keep an income coming in during the transition when obtaining even short term loans from the banks is well nigh impossible. I just wish I had the time to read any newspaper!

Sorry, Mike - try DEFRA

Yes Jon, it's sickening. Apparently most ends up being buried / composted unless it's a mixed farm and they've encouraged farmers to specialise so as to be efficient.

Isn't it sickening when you hear about all that rejected food. I assume he uses it for animal feed?

I'm depressed just reading this so god knows how that bloke feels.

Good article though and very informative. Even more reasons why people should try and grow there own.

The more that poisons are used to kill organisms and plants, the more they evolve immunity meaning the posions, and thats what they are, have to become stronger and stronger. The endless process will only be ended when the toxic levels in the soil and environment eventually cause all life to become unsupportable. Farmers can be such brain dead ********. The situation is reaching that enviroenmental crisis point at this time. We absolutely have to start having respect for Mother Earth NOW not in 10 years time. Organics, permaculture - these are the sorts of systems even the most arrogant old school chemical head grower must investigate now...outputs from well designed permaculture systems beat chemical heaven systems hands down. Look into it, and put down the Daily Mail.

I have learned that linuron is to be banned, which is a weedkiller widely used on potatoes and carrots.
I have been seaching websites to find out what the rest of the 22 toxic substances are that would be banned from use as crop chemicals. Do you happen to know?
