Container Growing – New Product to the UK

earthbox container garden systemHarrod Horticultural have taken on an exclusive dealership for the UK for the US EarthBox® container gardening system.

The EarthBox has also been a huge success in the domestic U.S. market by taking container gardening to new heights. The unique system creates the perfect environment by controlling soil conditions and the movement of nutrients to dramatically increase the yield of brassicas, root crops, beans, onions, curcubits, tomatoes, salads, herbs or strawberries.

The maintenance-free, gradient-gardening system apparently controls soil conditions to keep them at their optimal levels. It uses the laws of nature to keep fertiliser on top of the soil, watering is automatic from the bottom of the reservoir while nutrients move from high areas of concentration to areas of low concentration. This enables roots to absorb optimal amounts of nutrients at any time giving dramatic improved growth using half the fertiliser and 40% of the water.

Irregular watering is one of the main causes of failure in container growing so a system that helps water stability is bound to increase performance.

The green plastic portable, re-useable and UV protected container is perfect in small spaces whilst the cast wheels make it easy to move freely between indoors and outdoors for year round growing.

Grow more with less… anywhere

The manufacturers claim that plants grown in an EarthBox can produce double their normal yield. Space is never an issue – EarthBox is suitable for growing any variety of plants and fits easily on patio or deck, or anywhere where there is adequate sunlight.

Earthbox consumes a fraction of the fertilizer and water utilised in conventional gardening, while producing outstanding results–year after year!

Tha Harrod grow box does sound like a reasonable idea — but at nearly £35!!!
My allotment only costs me £12 per year for 400 sq metres!!

I like your web site and your comments including your continued fight against weeds and the elements — but at the price for the posh growbag I’ll stick to conventional gardening thanks.

Lucky you! Many people can’t get an allotment now and have postage stamp gardens. I paid £70 on compost last year, but that was for 14 tonnes.

I am glad your wife has a recipe for tomato chutney. This is my first attempt at growing toms. in our greenhouse. Looks like we might have a bumper harvest of toms.
